Clay flute-making
"Wonder what kind of sound a Jomon flute made?"
In this workshop, you will make an earthenware flute with clay (250g of clay is used).
Hollow the clay and make the shape you want and then finish it off by adding decoration and pattern.
Your clay pipe will be completed after drying it for about 1 month and then open-firing it.
Clay mask-making
"What kind of faces did Jomon people have?"
Shape the clay like a dish and then add eyes, nose and mouth to make a clay mask.
Finish it off by adding a pattern with tools such as cord.
Your Clay mask will be completed after drying it for about 1 month and then open-firing it.

※ If you cannot come to the museum on the open-firing day, we will do it for you. In that case, please come to collect your work at a time after that.
※ Clay handprints/footprints and clay mask will be fired in a kiln irrespective of season.
※ Please be aware that there may be some damage to your work when drying or open-firing it.
※ Works made from mid-October to the end of February will be fired by a kiln.
